Ten people have been killed in Buni Gari village, Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The state governor, Mr. Mai Mala Buni, is from Buni Gari.

An after-attack resident claimed that the alleged terrorists stormed the town to kidnap Mallam Shati Gawi, who was later killed.
“I want to tell you that we lost more than 10 people here,” another resident said. “We saw the security personnel, including soldiers and policemen, going to the area for response. One of my friends there that I spoke with confirmed to me that there had been about 15 people killed there allegedly by Boko Haram.

However, a statement released by DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the attack but noted that only nine people died as a result.
The youths went into the bush to look for Mallam Shati Gawi, who had been kidnapped and killed by the alleged terrorists, but were ambushed and killed, according to the statement.

He continued by saying that after visiting the scene, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the town, DSP Idriss Haruna, released the deceased’s bodies to their families.

Haruna also pleaded with the residents of Buni Gari to provide the police with trustworthy information in order to aid them in their ongoing battle against Boko Haram, kidnapping, and cattle rustling in the region.
The PPRO stated that accurate information on the movements of suspected criminals in society would aid in the elimination of those who terrorise defenceless locals.
