Once more, 30 people have been killed and numerous homes have been destroyed in a bandit attack on Runji Village in Kaduna State’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Only three days had passed when eight people were killed by bandits in the Atak’Njei community, which is located in the state’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, before the most recent attack, which took place at around 10 o’clock on Saturday night.
According to information obtained from sources in the affected area, military operatives had to act quickly to stop the attacks despite local guards keeping watch being able to engage the invaders.
The locals praised the military’s quick action, claiming that without it the attackers would have completely destroyed the community.
As Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs for Kaduna State, confirmed, Governor Nasir El-Rufai denounced the attack that claimed several lives.

According to Aruwan, “the military has informed the Kaduna State Government of an attack that occurred in Runji village, Zangon Kataf LGA, on Saturday night and resulted in the loss of several lives.The preliminary report also told the government that the attack injured some locals and caused an unknown number of houses to burn down in the neighbourhood.
According to the report, troops are still in the general area after a fierce encounter with the attackers.
“Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who received the preliminary report in the early hours of Sunday, has condemned the killings as unacceptable and unjustified while awaiting a detailed report.
“The Governor expressed sympathy to the families who had lost loved ones and prayed for the souls of the deceased. He also prayed for the injured to get better quickly.

As soon as the security agencies provide thorough reports, the Kaduna State Government will inform the public about the incident, according to Aruwan.
According to Sam Timbuwak Achie, the national president of the Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), both soldiers and vigilantes who responded quickly to the area and engaged the criminals in a gun battle killed some of the bandits. He also stated that the number of casualties would have been higher if it weren’t for the soldiers’ intervention.
