No force will stop Tinubu’s swearing on May 29 – Ohanaeze Faction

The president-elect Bola Tinubu is the target of a faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which has vowed not to support him. However, another faction of the group has proclaimed its unwavering support for Tinubu.

Because Tinubu refused to include Igbos in his transition committee, the Ohanaeze faction had earlier in the week declared that they would not recognize Tinubu as the president-elect.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Ime-Obi, the group’s highest decision-making body, however, announced on Saturday that no force would be used to prevent Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.

Speaking through Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the secretary general of the Ohanaeze, the group said that it recognises Tinubu as the president-elect of Nigeria and that it will support him after he takes office.

Isiguzoro stated to Daily Post that “some people are making an unofficial statement that they don’t recognise Tinubu as the president-elect, but let me make it categorically clear that those statements are coming from unpatriotic elements that have been suspended from the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.”

*Ohanaeze will take full part in the President-elect’s swearing-in ceremony. Anyone who claims that a candidate for president in 2023 who has been declared victorious will not be accepted by Ndigbo is being unpatriotic by using the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Until a court with appropriate jurisdiction rules otherwise, Ndigbo will continue to support the president-elect and vice president-elect Shettima to the fullest extent possible.

We won’t let the same individuals who turned Ndigbo against Buhari in 2015 push us into another precarious situation where it will be falsely implied that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is against or won’t recognise the President-elect.

“Ndigbo are economically minded progressives who would support any centrally located government.

There is no force on earth that could prevent the President-elect from being sworn in, so those who are attempting to pick fights on behalf of Ndigbo against Tinubu will fail. We are taking part in the inauguration at Eagles Square.

“Tinubu should not pay attention to those who are not speaking on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo; we will continue to support him and provide him with the most assistance possible, ensuring the success of his government.

The Ime-Obi Ohanaeze has never granted permission for anyone to criticise the President-elect. Whoever the winner of the presidential election was, Ime-Obi fully supports them.

Ohanaeze would not permit anyone to make the false claim that it does not support Tinubu and does not consider him to be the president-elect.
