May Day: Treat workers with dignity, CAN urges FG, employers.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, has urged the government and employers to treat workers with dignity and respect and to provide them with favourable working conditions.

Archbishop Okoh issued the call in a signed statement on Monday, stating CAN’s commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of Nigerian workers.

He praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifices despite the country’s challenges, and urged them to continue to approach their responsibilities with diligence, hard work, and excellence.

“On this year’s May Day celebration, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) extends warm greetings to all Nigerian workers,” the statement said. As we commemorate this day, we recognise the invaluable contributions of Nigerian workers to the growth and development of our great nation.

“We applaud Nigerian workers’ resilience, dedication, and hard work in driving the economy forward in the face of numerous challenges.” We recognise the daily sacrifices they make to ensure that their families and the nation as a whole have a better future.”As Christians, we believe that work is more than just a means of making a living; it is also a means of fulfilling our God-given purpose on earth. As a result, we encourage all Nigerian workers to continue to approach their work with diligence, excellence, and integrity, knowing that their efforts are not in vain.

“We also want to take this opportunity to express our solidarity with Nigerian workers who have been adversely affected by the current economic situation.” As a result, we urge the government and employers to ensure that workers are treated with dignity and respect, and that they have decent working conditions, fair wages, and job security.”The Christian Association of Nigeria is committed to working with stakeholders to promote the welfare and well-being of Nigerian workers and will continue to advocate for policies and programmes that will increase their productivity, skills, and job opportunities.
