Ado Doguwa, the majority leader of the House of Representatives, endorsed Tajudeen Abbas in his resignation from the race for the 10th House.
On Wednesday, Doguwa persuaded two additional contenders, Abubakar Makki and Tunji Oluwuyi, to drop out of the running during a meeting hosted by the joint task group.
There might have been protests among candidates as a result of the ruling APC endorsing Abbas and Ben Kalu for the speaker and deputy speaker positions.
Doguwa had previously teamed up with a few other contenders to create a coalition to take on Abbas.
In a shocking turn of events, he has since withdrawn.
He said in his speech that he couldn’t go against the party.
