The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), will inaugurate the Presidential/VIP Wing of the State House Medical Centre, Abuja, on Friday, just three days after his return from a medical trip to London, United Kingdom.
The State House Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, issued a statement on Wednesday that read, “Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, President Buhari, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, will embark on a guided tour of the hospital.”
Guests invited to the inauguration ceremony are expected to be seated by 9am, according to a statement with the title “President Buhari to inaugurate Presidential/VIP Wing Of State House Medical Center on Friday.”
According to report, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the President’s chief of staff, officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony for the legacy project, which is located on the grounds of the Presidential Villa.
The 2,485 square meter hospital is a specialized intensive care facility for the President, Vice President, members of their close families, and other VIPs.
Five consultation rooms for different specialties, including respiratory, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT, and general consultation, are located in the presidential/VIP Wing and will be staffed by a team of medical professionals.
The hospital also has a diagnostic suite with MRI, CT scan, and endoscopy equipment in addition to a specialized X-ray room with a digital X-ray machine.
According to the State House, a Healing Garden is available to patients and visitors. It is intended to promote healing, relaxation, and improvement of general well-being.
A Catheterization Laboratory, two operating rooms for routine procedures, and a special procedure room for organ transplants are also featured in the VIP Wing, which cost N21 billion to build.

“We are excited that Mr. President has kindly consented to inaugurate this legacy and transformative project on the cusp of his two-term tenure as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” said State House Permanent Secretary Umar in response to the development.
The State House Management, he continued, “has successfully completed several projects since the inception of this project in 2021, including a Special Care Centre, Biosafety Level 2 Molecular Laboratory, certified by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, a medium capacity incinerator and the Dental Wing Extension Building at the State House Medical Centre, Asokoro, a block of two-bedroom flats at the Staff Quarters of the Medical Centre, as well as a 54-seater State House auditorium.
The Modern Fleet Management hub and the Conference Car Unit workshop will be officially opened the following week.
The State House Medical Center’s VIP wing is now home to the dispensary that was formerly in the State House’s administrative section, according to a May 13 report.
In addition to hospital beds, a surgical suction machine, oxygen cylinders, miniature theater light stands, pedal bins, dressing bowls, file cabinets, and blood collection tubes, our correspondent saw the evacuation of these items.
Under the condition of anonymity, a medical staff member informed our correspondent that the outdated medical supplies wouldn’t be required at the VIP section and would instead be moved to the old State House Medical Center in Asokoro.
We are transferring them to the old State House Medical Center outside, the officer said.
The Presidential/VIP Wing will coexist with the State House Medical Centre, which is situated in Asokoro, Abuja, according to the State House Management.
The statement also stated that the medical center “remains committed to providing accessible, well-equipped, and revitalized health care services, catering to the diverse needs of patients through a range of comprehensive medical treatments.”
