According to Sen. Kabiru Gaya, the election of Sen. Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s President-elect is God’s answer to the country’s prayers for excellent leadership.
On Wednesday night, he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during a joint prayer session hosted by the APC Stakeholders Forum.
Gaya, who represents Kano-South Senatorial District in the Senate, said Tinubu’s record as governor of Lagos State for two terms was clear.
He expressed hope that if he could recreate what he did in Lagos State in terms of infrastructure and economic growth, against evident odds at the national level, Nigeria would be a better place for all.
Gaya emphasized that Sen. Kashim Shettima, the Vice President-elect, worked hard as governor of Borno for two terms, addressing challenges of insecurity that plagued the state.
According to the legislator, Tinubu and Shettima are an ideal marriage capable of propelling Nigeria to greater heights and making it the envy of other countries.

“I am confident that God will guide them in appointing professionals as cabinet members to collaborate with and form a good government in the best interests of the country and its citizens,” he said.
In his remarks, retired Col. Abudumumini Aminu, Chairman of the Forum’s Board of Trustees (BOT), stated that the combined prayer session, which included people of all major faiths, was held to pray for the prosperity of the incoming administration.
He added that it was also to pray for national unity, peace, progress, and the country’s development.
He thanked party stakeholders in particular for their efforts to secure the party’s electoral success, saying that the ceremony was held to seek God’s intervention and pledge the next administration to His care.
He thanked individuals who travelled from across the country to attend the ceremony, saying their sacrifices and prayers for a better Nigeria would be answered by God.
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, was represented by Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu, the APC National Organising Secretary, at the event, which was attended by traditional rulers, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and religious leaders.
At the event, prayers were said for special wisdom on the incoming administration, growth, peace, and unity in the country.
Some guests who spoke to NAN said such prayer sessions should be held on a regular basis to pray for the country and its leaders.
According to NAN, Tinubu will be sworn in on Monday.
The inauguration of Nigeria’s president is a ceremony that marks the start of a new four-year tenure.
The president takes the presidential oath of office during this ceremony, which occurs 90 to 95 days following the presidential election.
According to NAN, Shehu Shagari’s first inauguration took place on October 1, 1979, Nigeria’s independence day.
Since the fourth republic’s inception in 1999, all inaugurations have taken place on May 29.

The most recent presidential inauguration took place on May 29, 2019, when President Muhammadu Buhari began his second term.
According to NAN, the only component of this ceremony authorized by the Nigerian Constitution is the reciting of the presidential oath of office.
The presidential oath of office is administered by Nigeria’s Chief Justice.
Since 1999, the oath has been delivered by five chief justices at six scheduled public inaugurations.
The ceremony will take place in Abuja’s Eagle Square, Three Arms Zone.
