Coalition for True Governance has denounced the execution of Eze Victor Ijioma, the traditional ruler of the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, and the traditional prime minister of the Mgbele community.

On Friday, the group condemned the death of traditional rulers, who represent stability, legacy, and communal harmony.

The statement demanded that the Federal Government immediately address the horrible tragedy and restore peace in Oguta and Imo State.

Chief Charles Odenigbo, the convener, called on the Federal Government to declare a “State of Emergency” in Imo, saying Governor Hope Uzodinma had failed to protect residents’ lives and property.

“We, therefore, call on the Nigerian government to declare a state of emergency in Imo State,” the statement said. This statement is needed to quickly deploy security troops and avert future deaths and property loss. The state of emergency will empower the administration to stop the violence and restore order.

Governor Hope Uzodinma has repeatedly failed to govern and protect life and property in the state. Stop the violence.

“Furthermore, we urge the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing of the traditional ruler in Oguta to identify and prosecute the perpetrators. All parties, regardless of rank, must be held accountable. The government must show its commitment to the rule of law and civilian safety.

The Nigerian government should encourage community participation, dialogue, and reconciliation in Imo State. Peace and stability require confidence between the government, security agencies, and locals.

We urge the international community, particularly regional organisations and human rights authorities, to closely watch the situation in Imo State and aid the Nigerian government in restoring peace and security.
