President Muhammadu Buhari directed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and all other departing federal government officials to declare their assets on Friday, May 26.
The President was also said to have received his Declaration of Assets Form from Prof. Isah Mohammed, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.
The President was presented with the Declaration of Assets Form at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It is a constitutional requirement that public officials declare their assets prior to taking office.
President Buhari stated when he received the form that his strict adherence to the constitutional requirement of asset declaration before and after taking office is aimed at strengthening best practises, raising moral standards in public service, assisting in the development of integrity, and combating corruption.
As a result, he directed that all outgoing officials, elected and appointed, beginning with the Vice President, collect the assets declaration form, fill it out, and return it as he has.
President Buhari stated while collecting his form from Professor Mohammed that no one is exempt from the Constitutional duty of asset declaration.

“I signed, collected, and acknowledged receipt of my form,” he says. From here, I’ll ask my Kaduna bank manager to show me what has gone in and out of my account. Nobody is barred from disclosing their assets. I expected everyone, from the Vice President on down, to adhere to the system.”
Professor Mohammed stated that the President’s compliance over the last eight years, as well as his support for the Bureau, enabled it to achieve 99% compliance by elected and appointed officials.
He also acknowledged the President’s assistance in achieving the digitization of its services and operations, allowing the organisation to open investigations with greater efficiency.
