Meetings between Shettima, Bill Gates, Dangote, Governors

Senator Kashim Shettima, vice president, met with Bill Gates, co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Foundation, and members of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) on Thursday.

 

At the State House in Abuja, the meeting, which started at 11:43 a.m., was held in private. The event is a part of the schedule for Mr. Gates’ visit to Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

 

The meeting’s agenda is unknown as of the time this report is being submitted. Participants, it seems, would be open to areas of cooperation between the Federal Government and both foundations, particularly in the fields of health and education.

Both the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, and the chairman of the NGF, Abdulrahman Adbulrazaq, are present at the meeting. Governors Umar Radda of Katsina, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, and Umar Namadi of Jigawa State are among the others.

 

Alex Otti (Abia), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Charles Soludo (Anambra), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), and Nasiru Idris (Kebbi) were also in attendance at the meeting.

Others include Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Umar Bago (Niger), Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Sim Fubara (Rivers), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe) and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe) were yet to arrive.

Among others, the Deputy Governors of the states of Kaduna, Delta, Kano, Plateau, Ebonyi, and Benue are also present.
