Five members of the National Youth Service Corps from the 2022 Batch B stream 2 will receive various punishments, according to Mr. Usman Yakubu-Yaro, the state coordinator for Sokoto. One member will repeat the state’s service year.

This information was provided by Yakubu-Yaro to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Sokoto, when corps members were picking up their Certificates of National Service.

According to him, the affected corps members had received sanctions for a number of infractions, including being absent during their service year.

He stated that the programme had no tolerance for tardiness and would not think twice about disciplining any disobedient corps member.

He claimed that because of various infractions, the sanctioned corps members would have their service year extended by at least three weeks or one month.

The Coordinator urged those who had finished their service year to make good use of the skills they had learned through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development scheme and to serve as positive examples for the rest of the country.

In order to ensure completion, he further urged them to participate in the post-camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training.

Two corps members who stood out would receive the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar meritorious awards, Yakubu-Yaro added.

He did, however, commend the Sultanate Council and the state of Sokoto for their ongoing support of the NYSC Secretariat and corps members.
