As CJN allegedly instructs Tinunu and the APC to be ready for a runoff, Keyamo responds
Festus Keyamo, a former minister of state for labour and employment, has remarked that he never dreamed that the defeat in the 2023 elections would drive opposition candidates mad with depression.
Rather than patiently waiting for the judiciary to carry out its constitutionally mandated function in the election process, he claimed, opposition members have instead created a bewildering array of wild interpretations and conspiratorial ideas.
Keyamo was responding to a claim that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been advised to get ready for a repeat election by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola.
Jackson Ude, a strategic communication expert, also claimed that the CJN’s private phone calls with Tinubu, Yusuf Bichi, the director general of the Department of State Services (DSS), and two other justices of the Supreme Court had been disclosed to American authorities.
The report also stated that two further justices of the supreme court have had their entry to the United States prohibited as a result of the discussions’ release.
But, in Keyamo’s opinion, it appears that the opposition members are going insane, haven’t shown any respect for the integrity of the courts, and haven’t organised themselves for subsequent elections.
“Instead of waiting calmly for the judiciary to carry out its constitutional duty in the electoral process, these sore losers have unleashed their emotions everywhere,” he wrote. “Their cretins and minions have conjured all kinds of conspiracy theories and weird interpretations to simple things – from imaginary phone calls between certain people to warped understanding of Final Addresses in court and fanciful projections for a so-called re-run (when nothing has changed)
They seem to be going crazy, which I regret to say. I had no idea certain characters might fall into deep depression after just one election loss.
“As opposition members, we lost a number of elections, but instead of spouting these nonsense, we respected the independence of the judiciary and regrouped for subsequent elections. As the head of the opposition, @officialABAT had such mindset; now that he is president, he still holds that thinking.
However, it will be a long night for them given the direction these guys are headed (their attempt to dismantle every institution of State in their wake).
