The 103 victims who were slated for mass burial were among Nigerian countrymen who “were slaughtered in October 2020 by the agents of government because they protested against police brutality,” the group bemoaned.
In a petition to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (GCSDN) has called for the prosecution of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, and former Minister of Information and Culture Lai Muhammad for their roles in the mass burial of 103 #EndSARS victims that the Lagos State government had planned.
The 103 victims who were slated for mass burial were among Nigerian countrymen who “were slaughtered in October 2020 by the agents of government because they protested against police brutality,” the group bemoaned.
“At this time, the administration intends to bury all of the victims collectively. This clearly qualifies as a crime against humanity, according to GCSDN.
The coalition also requested that the ICC bring charges against the former, and at the time of reporting this story, the petition it started online had already gathered 47 signatories.
In a statement, one of the Coalition’s leaders, Frederick Odorige, questioned why the governments of Nigeria and Lagos State maintained that no #EndSARS demonstrators had been slain.
When “many of the atrocities and crimes against humanity took place in the country,” according to GCSDN, Buhari was the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and in charge of overseeing all security issues, but “He shuttled between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.”
Additionally, “Lt. General Yusuf Tukur Buratai” served as the previous Chief of Army Staff, whose department oversaw the actions of the Nigerian army that slaughtered demonstrators. Additionally, in December 2015, he participated in the murder of some 300 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN). “The Shia Muslims were buried in mass graves in Zaria, Nigeria. The previous President Muhammadu Buhari swiftly designated Buratai as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Benin in order to grant him immunity from prosecution and aid him in eluding punishment.
Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, invited the soldiers who fired on the unarmed protestors at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 20, 2020.
The coalition remembered that on November 23, 2020, CNN broadcast live footage of the murderous operation.
Lai Mohammed should face legal action, according to GCSDN, because he “propagated lie and in compromise, used his office to conspiratorially deny the killing. of the moment, he serves as managing partner of Ballard Partners in Abuja, Nigeria.More Nigerians will be killed for protesting if the protester murders and their collaborators are not brought to justice, and all of the people’s rights would be fully stripped away.
