On Wednesday, Senator Walid Jibrin, a former Board of Trustees Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, raised the alarm that suspected bandits stormed his rented property in Abuja.

Jibrin revealed that the thieves, who numbered eight, arrived in seven SUV cars armed with sophisticated firearms. He also revealed that the criminals ordered his housekeeper, who went by the name Awwalu, to escort them into his bedroom, where they trashed his belongings and stole some documents.

After allegedly telling his housekeeper that they were looking for N5 billion, ammunition, and other documents, they proceeded to vandalise his main bedroom before leaving the residence.

This comes just a few days after an attack on the residence of Atiku Abubakar, who is running for president as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, in Adamawa.

Jibrin said it was ludicrous that anyone would assume he had N5 billion while attending a news conference on Tuesday in Kaduna. He stated that his “bank accounts are free for checking by any authority, please.”

He continued his explanation by saying that this was the second time that bandits had broken into his home.

A senator from the Second Republic named Jibrin reported that, “They took my houseboy away and afterwards left him elsewhere after informing him that they were seeking for such a large amount of N5bn and some ammo stored by me but discovered nothing at all.”

Since then, I have conveyed my concerns to the Inspector General of Police, who has tasked the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory with handling the situation. “The CP is still the subject of an investigation,” he stated.
