1,200 Osun hunters receive intelligence gathering training from police, NSCDC

Under the auspices of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, about 1,200 hunters from all Local Government Areas in Osun State underwent a four-day information collecting programme.

In addition, during the exercise, which was held on the campus of Ataoja School of Science in Osogbo, the trainees were engaged in the area of inter-agency relations, in order to better position them for the duty of assisting in crime prevention.

The National Provost, NHFSS, Kehinde Ogunlade, addressed the attendees at the programme’s concluding session on Monday, emphasising the significance of training for security volunteers in order to keep them up to date on their tasks.

In a similar vein, Ahmed Nureni, Osun Commander of the NHFSS, stated that officials from the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Security, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Immigration Service trained the participants.

“We have 1,200 hunters that came from all around Osun State for the 4-day training,” Nureni added. Officers from the Nigeria Police Osun State Command, the NSCDC, the DSS, and the Immigration Service were on hand to teach our guys in their new roles.

“The participants were divided into groups, and the trainers guided them through various areas of our job.”

“More importantly, they were instructed on how to work with traditional security agencies to obtain the best results in maintaining the environment secure for state people.” We also received intelligence collecting training.

“We hope to continue doing this on a regular basis.” It is part of our hunting strategy in this state. We are familiar with the entire state and its surrounding woodlands. We have decided to contribute our part by aiding traditional security companies, but we cannot do so unless we acquire the necessary skills.”
