The petitions filed against two PDP House of Representatives members were denied by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Kaduna State.

On Saturday, the tribunal dismissed the applications filed against David Gurara, who represents the Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency, and Bashir Shadow, a member who represents the Kauru Federal Constituency.

The Independent National Electoral Commission conducted the House of Representatives election on February 25, 2023, and the two federal MPs were re-elected.

Gabriel Zock and Mukhtar Zakari, the candidates for the All Progressives Congress, brought the two PDP members before the tribunal.

In his case, Zock claimed that 43 polling places did not hold elections, and he asked the tribunal to overturn INEC’s proclamation and mandate new elections.

Shadow was the subject of a petition that Zakari had started, claiming that he had submitted a fake school transcript.

In ruling on Zock’s petition, Justice H.H. Kereng, the tribunal’s chairman, stated that the petitioner had not offered solid proof of his claims.

Additionally, Justice Maiwada Abubakar denied Zakari’s petition for lack of substance in her ruling.
