Following his petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Governor Dapo Abiodun, Wale Adedayo, the chairman of the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, was suspended by the council’s councillors.
The chairman was reportedly suspended for three months by a majority of council members due to suspected inefficiency and financial mismanagement, according to The Punch. Adedayo responded to the news by stating that the claim might be accurate given that on Thursday, August 21, some police officers and thugs attacked the council secretariat. Earlier on Thursday, it was claimed that hundreds of mobile police officers had taken control of the secretariat in response to an effort by Governor Abiodun to impeach Adedayo. The suspended council chairman claimed in his plea to the EFCC that the governor had not distributed kobo from the federal allocation to the local governments in the state.
