President Bola Tinubu has summoned Nigeria’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Isola.
The recall of the high commissioner was announced in a letter dated August 31 by Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“I have the honour to inform you of Mr President’s decision to recall you, signalling the end of your tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.”
“By this communication, you are now expected to begin the process of winding down your affairs, take formal leave of your host government within 60 days, and return to Nigeria by October 31, 2023 at the latest,” the letter states.
Tuggar praised the ambassador for his service and wished him luck in his future endeavours on Tinubu’s behalf.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari named Isola as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in January 2021.
Isola previously served as Minister for Mines and Steel Development under late former President Musa Yar’Adua.
