The Lagos State Police Command announced that it has detained one Nwagu Emmanuel for allegedly posing as a police commissioner to enable the release of a suspect from the state’s force headquarters.

This information was revealed on Monday during the parading of Emmanuel and other suspects at the Police Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, by the state’s commissioner of police, Idowu Owohunwa, through the command’s public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

In order to enable the release of another suspect who had previously been detained for his involvement in several crimes, Owohunwa said that the suspect was apprehended when he approached the state police headquarters with a phony identification card.

The culprit, however, gave himself away after refusing to provide information about his alleged position, according to the police.

“Nwagu Emmanuel was arrested for posing as a commissioner of police,” the police chief declared. He also produced a bogus ID card posing as a police commissioner to support his claim.

In fact, when he entered the police station, he was preparing to ask for the release of a hardened criminal who was being held. As police commissioner, he presented himself.

He could only persuade us so far. He was exposed by subsequent queries about his service location and other matters. Investigations show that he has been acting covertly in this manner for some time.

Only God knows how many citizens he has persuaded that he was a police officer in order to get away with doing some dishonest actions.

Responding to inquiries from reporters, Emmanuel stated that the ID card cost N2,000 and was handed to him by an Abba, an RRS official. He further stated that the only time he used it was when he was stopped by vehicle inspector officers.

“Abba, a representative of RRS, gave me the ID card,” he claimed. The only person he gave it to was me. Our hotel was where it was. They were watching over that area.

As a result, he gave me a singlet and a cap after they left the location. It cost N2,000 for the ID card. I received it the previous year. I only ever presented it once, and that was when the VIO stopped me. I proclaimed to be a retired officer.

The Epe Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association provided information that led the command to parade one Ibrahim Bello, who was accused of pretending to be a lawyer and providing legal services to unwary Nigerians.

The Epe Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association informed us of this. They got in touch with us regarding a person who had been identifying as a lawyer for a long time.

He always showed up to court wearing a robe and carrying a law book, and unwary Nigerians would approach him asking for whatever legal assistance they required. Ibrahim Bello is who he is. He was taken into custody in court while dressed in his robe and acting like a professional lawyer, according to the police.
