Two suspects are been held at the Tudun Wada Police Station in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, for the suspected murder of Voice of Nigeria reporter Hamisu Danjigba.

Bilal and Mansur Haruna, the suspects, are the sons of late Danjigba’s elder brother, Malam Haruna.

Before the event, they were both residing at late Danjigba’s house in Gusau’s Samaru neighbourhood.

Late Danjigba lodged a number of complaints about the disorderly demeanour of the two suspects, who were his elder brother’s children.

When Danjigba went missing last Saturday, many people assumed he had been kidnapped by bandits.

There was also a text message sent by an unknown individual seeking N1m from his family as part payment before revealing the total ransom on Friday.

Danjigba’s relatives and friends battled to find out where he was until Wednesday, when his lifeless body, which had been thrown in a soakaway behind his house in Gusau’s Samaru district, began to rot and became totally exposed to the environment.

The soakaway was promptly excavated, and late Danjigba was discovered with multiple cuts on his body.
While the investigation into late Danjigba’s horrible murder was proceeding, security personnel captured two major suspects close to his family.

A funeral prayer for the late Danjigba was held near his home, with hundreds of mourners in attendance.

According to Islamic law, he was buried right away.

Late Danjigba worked for a variety of media outlets, including Ayau Newspapers, Kunnen Gari, Voice of Nigeria, and Vision FM Nigeria.

He left behind a wife, numerous children, and grandchildren.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has expressed condolences to the departed family, the VON, and the entire state.
The union urged security services to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

Yazid Abubakar, the state police command’s spokesperson, vowed that a thorough investigation would be done into the matter to ensure that the offenders were brought to justice.
