The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, has stated that the IPOB leader’s ongoing arrest is a ploy by the Nigerian government to inflame tensions in the country’s southeast.

The former president of Nigeria, Ejimakor claimed, deliberately refused to grant Kanu’s release throughout his administration. He also bemoaned President Bola Tinubu’s refusal to break the “vicious circle” by denying Kanu’s release.

He claimed that a scheme to increase unrest in the Southeast included Kanu’s capture, rendition, and imprisonment.

In his tweets, Ejimakor stated: “Buhari’s use of force to quell opposition in Southeast and his rendition/arrest of Nnamdi Kanu were part of his larger plan to inflame instability in Igboland.

It’s perplexing that by holding off on releasing #MNK, a wiser @officialABAT has enabled this to go on. The cycle is unbreakable.

“Britain’s reluctance to utilize diplomatic leverage, as it did in the 1984 rendition of Umaru Dikko, is the sole reason for the emphasis on the courts and the use of civil disobedience in the effort to free Mazzi Namidi Kanu. The time has come for @RishiSunak to step up.
