The country residence of Canice Nwachukwu, a.k.a. Omeogo, the member for the Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, was set on fire by suspected arsonists.
According to information obtained by City Round, the politician’s house was set on fire on Thursday morning, only hours before the two-day South-East summit on security and economy in Owerri, which drew the five governors of the area, began.
According to a source, the politician was not at home when the suspects arrived at the federal lawmaker’s village in Abara, the Amanator Okporo community in the Orlu Local Government Area, and set fire to it.
The men carried fuel, metals, and explosives. They plundered a few properties before they set the home on fire. They also recorded the domestic staff and the compound on camera.
“They threatened to plan additional atrocities while they were creating the videos. Along with explosives like dynamite and bombs created in the area, they carried weapons. Fortunately, the personnel fled before they could set fire to the facility, according to the source.
Henry Okoye, the police’s state spokesperson, confirmed that an inquiry had been started when he was approached.
