Tension, anxiety, and apprehension are rampant ahead of Monday’s governorship election tribunal ruling in Lafia, as conflicting emotions are following the verdict from the Nasarawa state tribunal.
This is all the while the people in the state have started fasting and praying in an effort to get closer to God before the judgment.
95 percent of people, regardless of religion, are seeking God’s presence to reverse the alleged genuine mandate they allegedly gave to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the state’s March 18 governorship election, according to an investigation our correspondent conducted in Lafia and other parts of the state.
Speaking with our correspondent in the state, a few locals voiced hope that the purportedly stolen mandate would be reversed in the name of justice, equity, and fair play.
Mallam Suleiman Abdullahi, a local, insisted that the alteration went against the views of the populace since Allah is a forgiving parent who keeps his word.
Few people will wish to retain our mandate because we sincerely handed it to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate on March 18 in hopes of bringing about positive change in the state of Nasarawa. We shall keep praying to Allah, asking him to grant our requests and carry out his will on Monday.
Speaking for himself, Rev. Joshua John Bako stated that God Almighty is always in front of any principality and that those who are adamant about David Emmanuel Ombugadu’s People’s mandate in Nasarawa will be ashamed of themselves because God’s will will ultimately triumph.
“Anyone who challenges God’s power and will in these situations will face the axe of God,” the Bible states in Isaiah 58:11, “for the Lord will lead his people, satisfy their desires, and strengthen their bones; they will resemble a well-watered garden, like spring water, whose work never fails.”
However, further comments collected indicated that over 95% of the populace supports the PDP candidate’s victory.
However, it was learned that the current governor, Abdullahi Sule, has performed admirably in the areas of investments, maintaining peace, and managing the sharp increase in young unrest in the state; as a result, he ought to be let to serve out his second term.
Recall that on Monday, October 2, 2023, the governorship election tribunal in Lafia is scheduled to rule on a case brought by the PDP candidate contesting the INEC’s declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the APC as the legitimate winner of the March 18 governor’s race in Nasarawa state.
