A group of youths in Potiskum town, Yobe State, organized a nonviolent protest to express their concerns about the increase in rape cases, kidnappings, and the declining quality of education in Northern Nigeria. They called on the authorities to take appropriate action to solve these social issues.
Comrade Aliyu Haruna, the group’s leader, told reporters that the protest was intended to force the relevant authorities to take action.
He stated, “We simply started this peaceful protest in response to the North’s declining educational standards and security lapses that allow young, defenseless, and impoverished girls to be raped and left defenseless.”
