For a variety of crimes committed in the state throughout the past month, 46 people have been taken into custody, according to the Edo Police Command.

The command’s accomplishments over that time were highlighted by police spokesperson Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, who made this announcement on Friday.

During a raid on September 19 along Okabere road in Upper Sakponba in Benin City, Nwabuzor said that 15 of the individuals were suspected of being members of a cult.

According to him, the suspects have admitted to being part of the Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity and have made statements to that effect.

A brawl broke out at Igarra in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, and Nwabuzor claimed that six individuals were taken into custody on charges of murder and arson.

In the time frame under consideration, Nwabuzor reported, two suspected armed robbers and nine kidnappers were also taken into custody.

In addition, three people were apprehended for rape and defilement, and six more people were suspected of having illegal guns in their hands.

Along with the aforementioned four suspects, the command also detained one prison escapee who had stolen petroleum products from NNPC Limited.

A pump action, five locally created cut-to-size firearms, one locally made cut-to-size pistol, one live cartridge, and two fake weapons were found by the command’s tactical squad within the month, according to the Edo Police writer.

“We will maintain the operation for as long as we can throughout the ember months, as stated by Mr. Mohammed Dankwara, Commissioner of Police.

It is a time when individuals steal something that does not belong to them and when you witness criminal elements doing their misdeeds.

“The team responsible for tactical operations will persist in documenting these accomplishments,” he declared. A NAN
