At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Clement Chukwuemeka, 67, was taken into custody by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency agents on suspicion of trafficking drugs after he consumed 100 wraps of cocaine.

After squandering thirty years of his life in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Thailand, the suspect was cited as saying he turned to illegal enterprise to earn enough cash to marry a new wife and begin a new life.

In a statement made accessible to the media on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed this.

During the inbound passenger clearance of Ethiopian Airlines flight 951 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Chukwuemeka was arrested, according to Babafemi. He was then taken for a body scan, which found several pellets in his stomach.

100 wraps of cocaine totaling 2.195 kg were expelled by him in four excretions while he was being watched.

As per his declaration, he was married once but lost her and never had a child. He also claimed to have lived for thirty years in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Thailand. To get enough money to marry a new wife and start over, he explained, that’s why he made the decision to become a drug dealer.
Babafemi stated that officials detained 45-year-old Bilkisu Bello on October 2, 2023, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano as she prepared to board a Saudia Airlines trip to Saudi Arabia.

“During the interrogation, she admitted that a house in Kano’s Farawa neighborhood contained cocaine pellets that she had been instructed to swallow before to her departure. There were 52 wraps of the illegal material, totaling 767 grams, found in the premises when she took NDLEA agents there.

On Tuesday, October 3, NDLEA agents stormed James town in Ogunmakin, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, accompanied by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Civil Defence Corps, and Amotekun personnel. There, they discovered and destroyed 10.38 tonnes of cannabis sativa covering over 4.152 hectares, according to a spokesman for the anti-drug agency.

In addition, a truck with the license plate FS548XN was allegedly stopped by NDLEA agents returning from the operation, and inside was a 40-foot container filled with wood logs.

Six suspects, including Ahmed Yusuf, Olaniyi Babatunde, Adedeji Babatunde, Richard John, Osolale Olamilekan, and Abdulazeez Saied, were taken into custody after the truck’s contents were searched and two bags of 20 kg of cannabis sativa were found.
