Four university students from the state were abducted and taken to an unidentified location following the incursion of gunmen into a community in the Keffi Local Government Area, according to the Nigeria Police Force’s Nasarawa State Command.

The pupils were abducted in Angwan Ka’are in the LGA early on Tuesday morning, according to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state’s police public relations officer, who confirmed the occurrence.

To save the victims’ lives, he claimed, the manhunt for the offenders had been authorized by Maiyaki Baba, the Commissioner of Police.

“A distress call reporting the invasion of a home at Angwan Kaare in Keffi by unknown armed men led to the command’s knowledge of the kidnapping at approximately 12:55 am.” The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescuing the four victims unhurt,” the statement reads. “The police, in cooperation with the military, responded accordingly and searched the area, but to no avail.”

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the names of the abducted students are: Rahila Hanya, a 100-level student in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology; Josephine Gershon, a 100-level student in Computer Science; Rosemary Samuel, a 100-level student in the Department of Business Administration; and Goodness Samuel, a 100-level student in the department of Geography.
When our correspondent reached out to the university to inquire about their response to the incident, Comrade Abraham Ekpo, the Information and Protocol Officer, informed us that no formal reports regarding the incident had been filed with the institution.

“We cannot make any statements until we have an official report from the SUG or the police on the incident, as the SUG has not yet reported it to the Vice Chancellor. We were informed of the situation, just as you were, but we have not received any formal word from anyone,” he stated.
