Some personnel of the Nigerian Army have lamented the delay in the processing of the payment of their operational allowances for the months of January, February and March 2024.
One of the officers who spoke with SaharaReporters on Tuesday noted that soldiers, navy and the policemen in Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara had not been paid for three months.
The source also lamented they were being fed with bad meals, noting that their rice contained stones.
“Soldiers, navy and police at Operation hadarin daji here in Zamfara have not been paid January, February, and March operation allowance.
“Also we eat rice filled with stones every day,” he told SaharaReporters.
The army had in January dismissed claims of alleged poor feeding and nonpayment of allowances for the month of December 2023 of troops from the division deployed to Zamfara State.
In a statement signed by Acting Deputy Director Army public relations, Lieutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Eze, he had said contrary to the claim of poor feeding of the troops, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, was at the vanguard of ongoing clearance operations in Zamfara State to ensure socio-economic activities continue to flourish in the state.
According to the army, the GOC had been feeding from the same source as the troops, demonstrating his commitment to their well-being and morale.
