A human rights advocacy organisation, Take It Back (TIB) Movement, has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Eleojo Opaluwa, Michael Adaramoye, popularly known as Michael Lenin and Mosiu Abolaji, who were reportedly abducted, blindfolded by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and handed over to the police in Abuja.
The TIB, which made the demand on Monday said that Opaluwa, Lenin and Abolaji were abducted by the secret police for participating in the recently concluded 10-day nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests against hunger, hardship and bad governance in Nigeria.
TIB noted that they were abducted in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, by DSS operatives who blindfolded them and handed them over to the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
The organisation also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all the peaceful protesters arrested and being detained by the police and other security agencies across the country for participating in the protests.
The TIB said, “Across the nation, protesters remain detained after joining the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstrations, abducted and blindfolded by DSS, they were handed over to Abuja’s Police IRT.
“For joining #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, Eleojo, Lenin, Mosiu Sodiq Abolaji and others were abducted and blindfolded by the lawless DSS, then dropped off with the police IRT in Abuja.
“We demand that all peaceful protesters be immediately released without conditions.”
SaharaReporters had reported that Lennin, who is an activist and one of the key leaders of #EndBadGovernance protests, was arrested by the DSS at around 2 a.m. last Monday in his home in the Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, the secret service in a statement posted on its official X account denied the arrest of Lenin.
“The DSS can confirm that Adaramoye Michael (aka Michael Lenin) is not in its custody,” the service said, even as it noted that it carried out some other arrests, in connection with the ongoing nationwide protests against hunger and bad governance in Nigeria.
