The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has hailed the resolution of the leadership issue in the Lagos State House of Assembly as a democratic success and a monument to the party’s internal dispute resolution approach.
The ruling party’s Publicity Secretary, Oluseye Oladejo, issued a statement congratulating Lagosians, politicians, and party members for reaching an amicable resolution to the disagreement that had been raging for nearly two months in the Assembly.
According to reports, Oladejo admitted that the schism inside the Assembly was caused by persistent internal issues, which finally tested the party’s conflict resolution mechanisms.

“The crux of the disagreement, which mainly sought to draw attention to certain internal issues, stretched the well-tested and trusted internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party,” the politician stated.

He also observed that, despite the crisis, the party avoided interfering with the legislature’s independent business.

The APC chairman stated, “As a truly democratic party, we refrained from unnecessary interference in the affairs of the legislature, whose independence we value highly.” When the disagreement festered, the House deferred to the party and rejected any suggestions for resolution.”

How APC was resolved. The conflict
According to Oladejo, the Assembly requested the party’s participation only a few days before the resolution.

He said, “The party met with all the members and proffered practical solutions that were sacrificial, stabilizing, and in the best interest of the state.”

He underlined that the party’s role was advisory, and any decisions made had to be approved by the Assembly.

Oladejo expressed optimism that the crisis has strengthened the House of Assembly by teaching it crucial lessons regarding party discipline and governance stability.

The APC Publicity Secretary stated, “There is no doubt that lessons have been learned, and the House has been reunited and strengthened with a renewed commitment and vigor to serve the state better.”

He also slammed the opposition parties, claiming that their early celebration of the crisis was premature.

Oladejo wrote, “By this token, it’s clear that the opposition rejoiced too early over a storm in a teacup and will hopefully put their propaganda machinery in check.”

Mudashiru Obasa was re-elected as Speaker following the crisis, while Mojisola Meranda stepped down and was reinstalled as Deputy Speaker.
