Ibadan Fuel Station Fire: Driver and Motor Boy Burnt to Death

Early Tuesday morning, a terrible fire broke out at the Orita Challenge branch of GABSTAB Petrol Station in Ibadan, killing two men.
A statement published by the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, stated that the victims were a petrol tanker driver and his motor boy.
Akinyinka described the fire service’s prompt response, stating, “We received information about the GABSTAB Mega Petrol Station, Orita Challenge, fire incident at 5.15 a.m. and deployed our guys quickly.

“The driver and motor boy were burnt to death.”

He also assured that the fire had been properly extinguished, with more information to follow later.
An eyewitness recalled the horrifying scene, saying, “The incident occurred around 5:00 this morning. The driver and his motor boy were caught in the fire and unable to escape. They had been burned beyond recognition.

Another source verified that officials from the Oyo State Fire Service, assisted by security agencies, battled valiantly to keep the flames from spreading to surrounding businesses and residences.

Moroof Akinwande, Special Adviser on Fire Services Reform to Governor Seyi Makinde and Chairman of the State Fire Services Agency, confirmed the occurrence, saying firefighters acted quickly to contain the situation.

“At 5:15 a.m., we were informed about a fire at Gabster Mega Petrol Station in Orita Challenge. “The situation is now under control,” Akinwande remarked.
