As the Super Eagles get ready for their March international break, newly hired head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his first provisional roster, which has an intriguing blend of seasoned veterans and bright young rookies.
Maduka Okoye (Udinese), Amas Obasogie (Singida Blackstars), Adeleye Adebayo (Enosis Paralimni), and Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars) join Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), who had an outstanding performance at AFCON 2023, in the Super Eagles’ goalkeeping department, fostering competition for the position.
The defense gains new vitality with the return of seasoned players like Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and William Troost-Ekong, as well as the first-ever call-up of Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Rangers International).
Alex Iwobi of Fulham and Joe Aribo of Southampton support Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City, who leads the midfield. Frank Onyeka, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Raphael Onyedika join them, and it’s a thrilling surprise that emerging star Papa Daniel Mustapha (Niger Tornadoes) is included.

The team features standout attackers including Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Victor Osimhen. Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface, both of whom are playing well for Bayer Leverkusen, will also improve the offensive options. The return of veteran forward Ahmed Musa is much-needed, and Sevilla’s Jerome Akor Adams also merits his chance.

Take note that the Super Eagles are still vying for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and they are scheduled to play Rwanda on March 21 and Zimbabwe on March 24.
