Senator George Akume, the SGF’s secretary, is said to have travelled to Germany for immediate medical attention.
A top presidential source confirmed that the 69-year-old former governor of Benue State was reportedly flown out to the European nation about five days ago.
According to the reports, the source revealed that Akume is presently ill, which is why he was flown out for immediate medical care.
“The SGF for Tinubu is currently abroad and ill. He was transported by plane to Germany for immediate medical attention. Five days have passed since he arrived, the source said.
On the other hand, it was noted that Akume has recently been represented at events. At the National Defence College (NDC) Course 31 graduates’ ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, OSGF, Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi, represented the SGF.
He named resource allocation, vulnerability to global economic and political instability, resource inequality, and environmental impact as the main obstacles to economic growth at the national level during the function.
Consider that from 2019 to 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Akume as the SGF. From 2007 to 2019, he served as a senator for Benue North-West Senatorial District. He was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the SGF.
He served from June 2011 to June 2015 as the Senate’s Minority Leader.
