Hyde Kalu, a youth leader for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has encouraged PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to drop the lawsuit he brought against President Bola Tinubu in the US.
In the lawsuit, Atiku requested that Chicago State University—Tinubu’s alma mater—issue an injunction compelling the President’s academic records to be made public.
Kalu pleaded with Atiku in a statement released on Monday to permit Nigerian courts to resolve conflicts resulting from the 2023 presidential election.
He pointed out that because of the legal fight in the US, Nigeria is being mocked in the international community.
The APC youth leader claimed that the problem was already drawing unfavorable attention to Nigeria internationally, which is why the call was required.
He pleaded with Atiku to save the nation the disgrace.
“Atiku is a statesman, and it is not in dispute that he has the love of Nigeria at heart,” the statement said.
“I’m positive that not a single Nigerian is pleased with how our nation has been made fun of due to the US court decision.
For the sake of this nation and to spare Nigerians the embarrassment that this procedure can culminate in, we must implore Atiku to withdraw that lawsuit and forbid us from doing our laundry in public.
“Since we are all patriots, I think we can handle this situation decently and spare Nigerians the embarrassment that lies ahead.”
“A president has been elected after the election has come and gone. Because Atiku and President Tinubu are friends, I am appealing with him to stop the case in America in the interest of the nation. After all, we are all human.
