The Internally Displaced Persons camp is located at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the state capital. Benue State Police Command agents have detained four suspected child traffickers who were operating nearby.

In a statement made available to journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday, the state police public relations officer, Catherine Anene, revealed this.

Anene named the alleged traffickers, including Member Friday, the wife and accomplice of the kingpin, Stephen Terungwa, Sughter Akegh, and Atom Gideon.

He claimed that Friday, the kingpin, managed to avoid capture.

According to the statement, “During the interview session, the suspects confessed to having recruited pregnant girls who delivered their babies and handed them over to one Friday, the kingpin who has been on the run.

“For every successfully delivered pregnancy, they received N150,000.

One child who had previously been reported missing by his parents to the Saudi Police Division was also rescued from the kingpin’s residence.
