Today, May 23, 2023, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), inaugurated the newly constructed Nigeria Customs Service Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. PUNCH informs

This commissioning comes after the President on Monday officially opened the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, which was founded by Aliko Dangote, the president of the Dangote Group.

At a news conference in Abuja on Monday, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, revealed that the new sophisticated Corporate Headquarters cost the NCS N19.6 billion.

According to Adeniyi, the chairman of the organising committee for the edifice’s commissioning, the structure has a 12-floor tower with five floors on each of its two wings and “bridges” connecting the two wings.

According to the chairman, work on the building started in 2007 as a result of the need to construct a suitable building for the service, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria.

He added that the building’s construction was also influenced by the need for more space given the service’s capacity.

After redesigning and remodelling, the building, according to Adeniyi, was prepared for commissioning.

The building, which occupies a space of about 25,000 square metres, was created by domestic companies, according to the chairman.

He stated that the structure’s height above the ground was roughly 40 metres, making it one of Maitama’s Business District’s tallest structures.

According to Adeniyi, the structure would be equipped with contemporary mechanical and electrical service installations.

Customs’ deputy comptroller general stated that the agency was pleased to claim that “such an architectural masterpiece is cost efficient.”

Adeniyi described the difficulties that were faced during the building’s construction as beginning with variations and adjustments in the building’s model.

The corporate headquarters building known as “Customs House” is situated in Maitama, one of Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s affluent neighbourhoods.

To provide employees and authorised building visitors with a comfortable and conducive working environment, the project was conceived in 2002.
