On Thursday morning, the minister, Dave Umahi, was confined inside his office by protesting Ministry of Works employees.

The staff said that Umahi was being conceited and that the minister had barred personnel who had arrived late from entering the ministry.

The Housing and Works Ministry’s union members made the decision to shut the ministry down.

Furthermore, the workers prevented the minister from leaving the office premises by blocking entry and exit into the building.

Additionally, they asserted that Umahi “brought in consultants to run the affairs of the ministry, stopping engineers and directors from doing their work, and has been breaking public service rules since his appointment.”

Williams Kudi, a union representative, informed AIT that the minister has declined to give them a chance to voice their concerns.

It was not possible to get in touch with the minister or his assistants when this report was being written.
