After accusing Pastor Komaiya of deceiving churchgoers with false prosperity doctrines in a video broadcast on his official Facebook page, Apostle Alilu was arrested.
After making contentious remarks against renowned prosperity preacher Pastor Korede Komaiya of The Master’s Place International Church, Apostle Festus Alilu, the senior pastor of Word of Power Gospel Church International in Ughelli, Delta State, was taken into custody by police late Thursday.
After accusing Pastor Komaiya of deceiving churchgoers with false prosperity doctrines in a video broadcast on his official Facebook page, Apostle Alilu was arrested.
Alilu claimed that Komaiya’s sermons were intended to take advantage of the congregation’s faith by encouraging prosperity and financial breakthroughs through tithes and offerings, a practice frequently linked to the prosperity gospel.
Apostle Alilu implied in the video that Komaiya’s teachings added to the growing mistrust and skepticism toward Christian leaders by citing activist Omoyele Sowore’s continuous criticism of specific Nigerian pastors. Packages for cultural tourism in Nigeria
Prominent human rights advocate Sowore has been vocal against corruption and manipulation in Nigerian churches, frequently pointing the finger at prosperity preachers who take advantage of weaker members of the congregation. Alilu cautioned that the Christian community may become even more divided and confused if Komaiya and others did not stop using such dishonest tactics.
While some readers praised Alilu for taking a daring stand, others criticized him for openly opposing a fellow pastor, claiming that church internal affairs belong in private.

A prominent member of The Master’s Place International Church, a fast expanding congregation with a sizable following in Nigeria, is Pastor Komaiya.
Komaiya is well-known for his eloquent sermons and has established a solid reputation by promising heavenly wealth. He preaches that monetary wealth and personal achievement are the results of faith and constant giving.
His ideas, in spite of continuous criticism, are consistent with the prosperity gospel movement, which has been quite influential in Nigeria and throughout Africa.
Neither Pastor Komaiya nor The Master’s Place International Church have responded to the claims or Apostle Alilu’s arrest as of the time of publication.
