Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu to be the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with a term of five (5) years at the outset, pending approval.
This order complies with Section 8(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which grants the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the power to appoint the Governor and four (4) Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In addition, President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the nomination of the following four individuals to the position of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), who would serve initially for a duration of five (5) years.

According to President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of “Renewed Hope,” the President anticipates that the aforementioned nominees will successfully carry out crucial reforms at the Central Bank of Nigeria, boosting public and international confidence in the restructuring of the Nigerian economy toward sustainable growth and prosperity for all.
