The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced it generated approximately N2.4 billion in 2024 through marriage contracts facilitated by its marriage registry under the Ministry of Interior. This milestone achievement was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a media session in Abuja on January 28.
In addition to the revenue from marriage contracts, the minister highlighted the success of the ministry’s expatriate quota applications, which brought in over N3.2 billion. This surge in revenue contributed to a remarkable 150% increase in the ministry’s overall annual revenue.
The minister emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring greater accountability within the ministry. The announcement reflects the administration’s focus on diversifying revenue sources and boosting economic performance through various initiatives.
