Muhyi Rimingado, the head of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, is under investigation by the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has called the Kano anti-graft agency’s Director of Finance to Abuja to provide the agency with pertinent transactions involving Rimingado.
A letter of invitation dated August 8, 2023 and signed by the acting deputy director, Cybercrime and other related crimes, EFCC, Muhtar Bello, which our reporter saw, stated that Rimingado’s financial records from 2019 should be supplied by PCACC for appropriate action.
“The Commission is investigating a matter in which some clarification from your office is critical,” it says. In light of the foregoing, you are kindly requested to allow the Director of Finance and Accounts to report for an interview with the undersigned on Monday, August 29th, 2023 at 1000hours at Plot 301/302 Institution and Research District Jabi, along Airport Road, Abuja.
“He should bring the following information: I. Details of total money disbursed to your office by the Office of the Accountant General of Kano State from the fiscal years 2019 to 2021.” II. A breakdown of the total money disbursed to your office by the Kano State Ministry of Local Government between 2019 and 2021, including contracts fulfilled and beneficiary accounts.”
In another letter signed by Gwimi S. P. Director, Intelligence, Investigation & Monitoring, the CCB stated that it has launched an investigation into Rimingado’s alleged violation of the Code of Public Officers, and asked the Director, Personnel Management Department of Kano anti-corruption agency to provide requested information to aid the investigation.
“Pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the 3rd Schedule, Part 1, paragraph 3(e) to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, The Code of Conduct Bureau is investigating a case of alleged violation of the Code of Public Officers against a staff of your organization by name Muhuyi Magaji Gado,” the letter reads. As a result, you are kindly requested to provide the Bureau with certified True Copies (CTC) of the following specific information. I. His letter of appointment/acceptance; II. Salary pay stubs from July 2020 to August 2023; and III. Service records.”
Remember that Rimingado was previously ousted from office by the Kano State House of Assembly but was reinstated by the current Kano State government.p
