The Ogun State Government has begun the construction of 200 dwelling units in the state’s Iperu, Ikenne Local Government.

The housing development, which is aimed at low and middle-income clientele, will have 2-bedroom expandable bungalows.

The Special Adviser on Housing, Jagunmolu Omoniyi, broke the news on Thursday via the state government’s X (previously Twitter) profile.

According to Omoniyi, the move will increase the state’s housing stock by offering housing solutions to the growing Remo Zone Economic Hub, which is expected to attract a large number of workers.

According to him, the project will complement the state government’s investment in the Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport.

He also stated that the initiative will benefit the local economy by bringing 5,000 craftspeople and over 50 service providers to the site.

Each unit would be accessible to the public for N8.5 million for the carcass option and N15 million for fully finished flats, with mortgage choices available through the Gateway Mortgage Bank, according to Omoniyi.

“The estate will be fully serviced with all basic amenities like good drains and a well-compacted road network, security architecture, lighting and water reticulation, playground, health and educational facilities, and a Fire Service Station to serve the emerging economic cluster,” he said.

“Considering the multiplier effect of engaging 5,000 artisans,” Omoniyi noted, “this will ensure the provision of means of livelihood to over 20,000 citizens.”

The project is projected to take six months to complete.
