On Thursday, Ahmed Audi, the commandant general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, warned to bring legal action against unlicensed guards and the private security firms that employ them.
This was said by the NSCDC CG in Abuja as 44 PGCs received permits.
To lower the nation’s escalating level of insecurity, Audi instructed all licenced PGCs to work within the necessary standard.
“Thereafter, all guards shall be licenced prior to deployment, and unlicensed guards shall be arrested, prosecuted, and their employers shall be sanctioned for employing and deploying unlicensed guards,” he stated.
“You are receiving your licence today as a regime comes to an end and some unhappy individuals are posing a threat to the stability and tranquilly of this country during handover.
Your first task is to be on guard during this time, notify any suspicious gatherings to the corps, and—most importantly—take damage control measures before official security services can respond appropriately.
You are required by law to provide an intelligence report every month, and any information that is urgently important must be given in right away. Companies will be held liable for any security breaches that take place in their beats.
Audi, though, voiced confidence that the businesses would perform as expected while emphasising that the NSCDC would not spare any business that broke the laws.
