As part of his administration’s Urban Renewal Programme, Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has invited prominent dignitaries to commission a number of infrastructural projects on Friday.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former APC national chairmen Chiefs Bisi Akande and John Odigie-Oyegun, former governors, and two current state ministers, Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed and Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar, have been invited to commission the infrastructure projects as part of the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s administration’s Urban Renewal Programme on Friday.

A statement from Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai’s special adviser on media and communication, detailed the projects, which also included the new Ungwan Rimi Market and the Safe City Command and Control Centre.

The statement noted that “President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the projects of the first phase of the urban renewal programme in January 2021,” in addition to listing the Umaru Yar’adua Road, the Isa Kaita Road, and 10 other roads as projects to be commissioned.

The former Vice President was invited to commission the projects, in Adekeye’s opinion, because he is the highest-ranking elected figure the state has ever produced. For their contributions to the fusion of the parties that became the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Pastor Tunde Bakare, and former governor Ali Modu Sheriff were also recognised.

The APC candidate for governor in Adamawa state, Senator Aisha Dahiru, has made a significant effort to shatter the glass ceiling that has prevented women in Nigeria from achieving political dreams.

The Special Adviser stated that it is “only right and proper” to acknowledge Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed and Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar’s service as Kaduna state ministers.

The Urban Renewal Programme and projects carried out by the recently established Metropolitan Authorities are part of a comprehensive effort to increase and improve key public infrastructure throughout the state.

The infrastructure projects, according to the statement, are a significant accomplishment for the state because they enhance citizen quality of life while connecting localities, luring investment, and fostering economic growth.
