The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Dan-Isa Ward, Kauran Namoda, Malam Yakubu Sani, and three of his executive members, Jamilu Usman, Dantahiya Kasa, and Dangandi Marnona, have been kidnapped by bandits.
On Saturday, March 1, while they were traveling to Talatan Mafara, the incident took place. As they tried to fix their car after it broke down on Mayanchi Road, the bandits attacked, a resident said.
After fruitless attempts to reach state APC chairman Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, stated he was not aware of the occurrence.
The residents are sick of paying ransom because the robbers frequently do not free their hostages even after being paid, the resident said.
He bemoaned the area’s worsening security, claiming that more than 200 persons are in captivity at the moment, many of them were kidnapped along the Dansadau-Magami and Magami-Gusau routes.
