In her home in the Makoko neighborhood of Yaba, Lagos State, 13-year-old Taiye Ojo was electrocuted to death on Saturday.
The tragedy took place as the teenager was escaping from a barking dog inside the compound.
Further information revealed that Taiye had been walking to the on-site restroom when the dog began to bark.
She reportedly tried to run away from the dog after becoming alarmed by its behavior.
Our correspondent also discovered that the girl was electrocuted when she unintentionally touched an air conditioner’s outdoor unit while running away.
According to reports, she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The residents of the house and their neighbors were reportedly uneasy about the development.
The Sabo Police Station then received a report of the incident.
According to reports, the girl’s remains were interred in accordance with Islamic traditions.
According to a police report on the incident that our correspondent was able to see, the deceased was being barked at by a dog while using the restroom, and when she tried to get away from the dog, she unintentionally touched the window air conditioner, which caused her to become electrocuted.
The DPO brought the patrol team and detectives to the scene, but the victim had already been taken to the hospital and passed away there.
When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police with the state police, confirmed the incident in an interview with our correspondent.
