Rev. Agbadamashi Emmanuel, an Anglican priest, was abducted along the East-West road near Evwreni junction by gunmen.
The event happened on Friday while the Anglican priest and his family were traveling from Ughelli to the Uwheru hamlet in the State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to reports, the gunmen approached them unexpectedly and marched them into the jungle.
Hon. Justice Iyasere, Public Relations Officer for the Anglican Communion, Ughelli Diocese, confirmed the event to journalists in Warri on Monday morning.
He was unable to ascertain whether the kidnappers had demanded a ransom.
However, as at the time of reporting this article, the abducted cleric and his family were still being held captive on multiple occasions.
When approached by newsmen, DSP Bright Edafe, Delta State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, promised to get back to them as soon as he had information from the Divisional Police Officer.
