In Benue State, three internally displaced people (IDPs) have reportedly been slain by unidentified gunmen.
The people had gone fishing in the state’s Gwer West Local Government Area when they were approached by a group of alleged armed men, according to reports made accessible to journalists.
The people were killed on Monday, according to Ibaah Terna Jacob, the chairman of the Agagbe IDP camp in Gwer West LGA, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
Igbahemba Abua, Iorhemba Cletus, and Akaa Clifford were the victims, according to him.
It was nighttime when Jacob reported that the three had gone fishing in Gwer West’s Gbange/Tongov council district and had not returned.
They were being pursued by armed intruders who started shooting at them, an eyewitness told them during their search, he added.
Following a thorough search, the camp manager stated that the three individuals’ bodies were discovered by Tuesday morning and were buried right away.
By the time of reporting, the Nigeria Police Force’s state command had not confirmed the occurrence, though.
