On Tuesday, September 5, Comrade Kayode Martins, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo state Chapter, expressed satisfaction with the level of adherence by workers in the state to the two day warning strike announced by the national headquarters of the union.
He warned that if the government does not pay attention to worker agitation within 14 working days after the warning strike, there will be an indefinite strike. He claimed that a call to all affiliate unions indicated that they all obeyed.
Martins, however, asked the federal government to act quickly to address worker welfare, claiming that the loss of the subsidy had a significant impact on them.
Public institutions in the Ibadan city, including Nihort, FRIN, and certain banks that our correspondent visited, showed that they complied fully even though their offices were locked up.
