In Uromi, in the state’s Esan North East Local Government Area, and Illeh, in the state’s Esan West Local Government Area, the Edo State Government has destroyed homes connected to kidnappers.

It was understood that the residences were situated in the senatorial district of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Michael Anetor, the Commander of the Special Task Force, and Akhere Paul, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, oversaw the operation.

Paul claimed that the demolition operation was in compliance with the anti-kidnapping law that Governor Monday Okpebholo had just signed into law after it was approved by the Edo State House of Assembly.
According to the Special Adviser on Security, the state government would not put up with any home or business being used as a cover for illegal activity.

However, before renting out their premises to tenants, he urged landlords to make sure that tenants are properly profiled.

“Criminal activities have been conducted in these houses,” Paul stated. This is where they hold abducted people, and during a raid, members of the Nigerian Police Force found several lethal weaponry.

The Edo State House of Assembly recently enacted a new anti-abduction law, which Governor Monday Okpebholo signed. It states that any home proven to be used for kidnapping will be razed.

This will act as a warning to others. A person must be screened before you rent out your house to them. Visit the police station and ask them to assist you in creating a profile of the new individual before you sell your property.

“You need to confirm their identity, place of employment, and identity to prevent such regrettable situations.”

He gave the state’s citizens the assurance that the exercise will continue since the state government has issued an order to rid the state of all criminal elements and make it livable for everyone.
